about this project

We had the privilege of photographing some fine examples from the Glenfarclas family cask range, dating from 1958 through to 2000.

Glenfarclas 1976

This stunning Glenfarclas 1976 40 Year Old is a member of the distillery’s highly sought after Family Collector’s Series. After being created in Speyside in 1976, it was matured in the finest sherry casks for 40 whole years before being bottled in 2016. It’s rich, powerful and classy with lots of sherried notes combining with a certain oakiness that you only find in whiskies aged for a very long time. Coming in an elegant presentation case, and with only 1,500 bottles ever created, this is must have whisky for any fan of Speyside whisky.

Glenfarclas 1983

A 1983 Glenfarclas bottled for the Summer 2014 outturn of Glenfarclas's brilliant ongoing Family Cask series.

This 30-year-old Glenfarclas 1983 was bottled from a refill hogshead Cask 31 at a natural cask strength of 46.1%, yielding 249 bottles. A pale Glenfarclas for its age, these long-aged refill hogsheads are usually brilliant (though atypical) Glenfarclas whiskies, with lots of juicy distillery character and complexity. One for contemplative sipping.

Glenfarclas 1994

A 1994 Glenfarclas single malt that was matured in a single refill butt until it was bottled in May 2020 as part of the Family Casks series. Aromas of red berries, ripe apricot, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate and dried tobacco leaves fill the nose, complemented by notes of dried fruit, caramelised hazelnuts, dried apricots, dates, tobacco, black pepper and oaky vanilla throughout the palate.
